"If you can't fix it, you got to stand it."
Wow.. its been such a long time since I have visited the Gashapon Machine.. So many things have come and passed throughout this period, in particular the Chinese New Year, just to name a few... Alas, time hasn't been kind to me at all, I grew all the more lethargic and just plain lazy during my Ammo Tech days.. Not to mention my red packets have also decreased over the years.. sigh..
"Go to sleep, may your sweet dreams come true
Just lay back in my arms for one more night
I've this crazy old notion that calls me sometimes
Saying this one's the love of your life."
Even though Valentine's was only less than two weeks ago, it sure feels more than that. Our third Valentine's was spent on the weekend prior to the special occasion, since the both of us knew we will be too darn tired to sweettalk should we meet up on the actual weekday itself. The day was simple enough, we started the day with a stroll through Orchard and gang, starting from Chinatown.. We had normal authentic "Food Court" specialties, namely Economical Rice for moi, and "BAN MIAN" for the lady.. Haha.. We are kinda sick of food for the royalties already, therefore we had to succumb to more earthly food, plus we didnt have THAT much on us.. So...
"When you wake up the world may have changed
But trust in me, I'll never falter or fail
Just the smile in your eyes, it can light up the night,
And your laughter's like wind in my sails. "
Later in the day, we took a bus to Great World City, which was strangely situated at a god foresakened location in Singapore when compared to the majority of other shopping malls... It was my first time there, and I was amazed.. By how small the place really looked.. It was real classy though, and so were the prices there.. I can't help but notice alot of "ang mohs" over there, perhaps it was a place for the wealthy and rich.. Wait, they meant the same thing right? EXACTLY my point. Haha...
"Lean on me, let our hearts beat in time,
Feel strength from the hands that have held you so long.
Who cares where we go on this rugged old road
In a world that may say that we're wrong."
Now, the strangest thing happened, which is going to take place in under an hour's time. We both proceeded to the cinema at the top floor, and we can't help but notice one big word sprawled over the movie listings..
"Brokeback Mountain"
We turned and looked at each other, and as if we both had telepathy at that split second, we bought two tix to the show also immediately without a single word. Well, what can i say? We are "critically-acclaimed-blockbusters" whores...
Thus, I spent the next two hours inside the cinema watching two guys make out, and two females bare ALL! Well, almost 'all' that is... But it was still a shocker watching Princess Diaries Anne Hathaway taking her top off.. Man, it was just too sudden for me.
When the show ended, there were quite alot of sobbing all around the theatre. People walked out in silence, and there were tissues being handed out everywhere. She was also almost close to tears, but luckily she found the power to hold it in, and saved us some tissues in the process. I walked out feeling strangely empty inside, as if I have lost something, but I just can't name it.. When I finally got home, I was still humming the haunting guitar tune from the movie..
The show was really very deep and touching, alot of the emotions and underlying meanings wasn't "spoon-fed" to the viewers directly, they were mostly emoted through the great acting of the stellar casts. Through their eyes, you can tell sorrow, longing, fear and disappointment as the characters go through many turmoils and obstacles. Although the pacing of the movie is quite slow, you can only feel the impact of the movie once its over, as the movie will continue to haunt your feelings..
"Cause I know a love that will never grow old
And I know a love that will never grow old."
I truely recommend my first R21 movie to anyone reading this. If you are willing to 'open up' and give this movie a go, I know you won't be disappointed, as ultimately, this is a story about love, and the obstacles and difficulties that comes along with it...
