Charmed by the tranquilty and simpleness of Pulau Ubin

I departed for Pulau Ubin last Sunday morning with the weight of the world on my shoulders, but returned home with nothing more than the yearning to jump right back into the bumboats again.

Although that was my first trip to the island, I am no stranger to old fashioned "backpacks-on-back" camp trips like this, no thanks to the field camp that I experienced during my army days.

On arrival to shore, the first thing I experienced, even before the excursion had begun, was the sheer difficulty of having to alight the bumboat on choppy waves. Things only got worse when a lady in front of me decided to act all drama about it and flail her arms about. PURE ADRENALINE in it's rawest form, I must say.

Then came the long bicycle rides around the island, as we figured that travelling on foreign grounds with so much weight on our shoulders was definitely not feasible.

We soon realised that it was surprisingly taxing even to cycle around, giving the constant traffic flow of vans going against our paths, and the rubbish-condition of the roads we cycled on. My poor bum has never received this much abuse since my operation!

^Taking a well deserved break.

^Sadako-hiding well spotted!

Oh, did I mention also, that the island was really wet during the trip? I mean, gallons and gallons of impurities just literally fell from the sky, enough to flood Chinatown and wash away all it's festivity spirit.(As spooky as it may sound, it has started to rain outside at this very moment while blogging. Freaky huh.)

Almost half of our time at Ubin was spent scattering for shelters, and waiting for mother nature to stop watering her flora. However, we made full use of our time by secretly taking pictures of weird China people, and of the strays that wandered around.

^This has became such a common sight when we were there.

^China tourists having a picnic on the floor.

^Cute stray that I mistook for a bitch.

(Oh, it has turned into a downpour outside, complete with wailing winds and cracking thunder. =/)

When the rain finally subsided to a slight drizzle, we finally grabbed the chance to visit the more tourist-attractive Chek Jawa wetlands. We only caught glimpses of cockles, crabs, and truckloads of seaweed though.

^Enjoying the view of Chek Jawa from the costal boardwalk.

^Is that a horseshoe crab? Or just a shoe?

^Shellfood!

^The pure beauty that is Chek Jawa.

^Evening view. So peaceful.

On that note, I must highlight that I have NEVER seen SO much seaweed in my life. I think there are enough to strangle someone unlucky enough to fall into them.

^Seaweed!! Suddenly this dancing baby from WANG WANG pops right into my mind...

Haha.. I digress. When night fell upon the horizon, we pitched our tent for the first time by the sea at the new Jelutong campsite. The unusual bit was, no matter where I turned, I cannot find a single soul around other than us.

Dinner consisted of boiled potatoes with, oh so foul, canned beef. The rest of the evening we spent watching Bable on my IpodTouch, peeking at strays digging right outside our "front porch", and trying to hold our only shelter together, against the fierce gale of winds that appeared around 3 in the morning.

^Healthy canned food! Yum!

^Nightime by the beach.

^Scenic morning view that was ruined by all that junk by the shore.

^Groggy and grumpy during morning.

It was definitely a trip to remember. Not only because of how much "fun" I had scraping my ankle against the sharp bicycle gears, but also because of the weird drumming and music coming from the forest during the night.

Whew, that was certainly THE event that I pray to avoid hearing again.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the failure that was my "first" fishing experiment over at Ubin. In the midst of all my excitement and hype over fishing, I forgot to figure out the reel and its mechanic properties. In other words, I could not get it to work.

How dumb can I get? I wonder aloud sometimes...

From the unmentionable corners of one's mind...

...comes this screenshot!

What it is, is still everyone's guess. Perhaps a fillet of things to come?

Say tuned!

FYI
-IGN's "THE TOP 100 GREATEST GORE MOMENTS IN MOVIE HISTORY" lives on and is into the fifth day already. You KNOW you can't resist taking a stab at it. Muuhahahahaha!

-Check out the news report on Jolin and Kylie. Am I the only one who feels that this would have fitted nicely on Ripley's Believe It Or Not?

*Between the 20th to 24th seconds into the clip, notice Kylie's expression on the word, "..HERE...", as she tries her darnest to express her "joy" on meeting up with Jolin. Someone give kylie an Oscar, now!*

-Avril has turned into a drag version of Christina Aguil with her new single, "Hot"! An utter disappointment, really, in both video and choice of song. She should have gone with(my personal favourite) "Innocent" instead. Plus, she looks like a cardboard-cutout of something that even Christina hereself has shyed away from ever since.
Check out the offending video below:

-Lastly, for those who even care, the Spice Girls are back with "Headlines", to cause bloodshed and unease all over again. Remember, its "Headlines, not headLICE", as emphasized by Melanie C herself in a recent interview...

A present in the form of a Mp3

Boy, did the day ended on a high note. After hours of furious and aggressive shopping for my upcoming pulau ubin camping trip, I was pleasantly surprised by news of Kylie's new album "X" samplers being available for download.

Man oh man, I was rocking so hard in my seat just a few minutes later that it gave my butt a good ol'rubbin. Even now, ten replays later, I still get goosebumps listening to the infectious mega mix.

Minogue is back! Discos rejoice!

If this continues any longer, I may have to change Gashapon machine into another Kylie minogue shrine.

Complete with pink lettering and huge over-stretched portraiture of the lovely minogue pasted all over.

Someone shoot me please?

Pretty please?

If my Kylie-fied article even remotely raised your curiosity, you can get the track LEGALLY just by clicking HERE.

Just for the record, I bought a four-men tent, a sleeping bag, a ranger's hat, a small cooking stove, a foldable chair, and fishing equipment. That's right, however cruel it sounds, I can't wait to hook me a live catch.

The only problem is, I haven't the foggiest idea how to fish. =/

Oh well. In the tradition of the Power Rangers, "IT'S GOOGLING TIME!!".

Psychopaths, sickos and scatterbrains delight!

Guys, if you are the kind who guffaws at scenes of massive blood baths, too cruel executions, cannibalisim, scantily-clad women being bumped off in numerous creative ways, decapitation, flesh-eating viruses, puncturing of vital organs, and other gory materials, then you had better make your way to IGN's "THE TOP 100 GREATEST GORE MOMENTS IN MOVIE HISTORY" right away! Day two of the ten episodes is just in.

There's never a dull moment watching helpless convicts being chained up and forced to play sick games, nor is watching the insides of a screaming bloody-mess being tore out by a famished abomination ever considered yawn-inducing.

So what are you waiting for? Go indulge yourself in the blood-splattered articles right now!

For ages over 18 only. Yeah right, fake birthdays anyone? *wink*

Sunday's got my brain juices flowing.

I never knew lazing at home on a Sunday can be SO taxing...

I'm dead serious, really.

Every so often I get this sudden blood rush, almost like when you picture Jessica Alba naked but without all that lust, and then whimsical ideas in my mind will start piecing together, pixel by pixel, somewhat resembling what Britney is trying to recreate for her shattered career.

Some examples:

1. New Name
2. New blog
3. Camping
4. Fishing
5. Pulau Ubin
6. Making someone squirm uncontrollably
7. Picturing Oprah digging her nose
8. Picturing Oprah on the toliet

Some of those, like renaming myself, are more feasible, whereas others are just simply results of watching too much Oprah madtvs on youTube...

Whatever the case, here's hoping that I see most, if not some, of these ideas through and not forget about them by the day's end.

$179.

That's how much I forked out for a new pair of earphones. But it's not as though I had bought the twins in a moment of blind lust. Mind you, I actually did my 'homework' first...

According to CNet.com, the earbuds that made it to their top 5 list seem to revolve around some...rather, unsightly models. Examples are the very(emphisized with a huge !) expensive Shure SE530 Sound Isolating Earphones, and the Shure(again!) SE310 Sound Isolating Earphones.

However fantastic they sound to the human ear, sadlythough, both looks equally 'bleh' and resembles things that you can find at the "Pasir Malams"...

But, in the midsts of bad tastes, I managed to salvage a particular brand of earphones, which I am sure the majority have not heard of.

They are the models V-Moda Bass Freq, and V-Moda Vibe.

V-what?? Never heard of them too right?

After going through CNet's raving reviews on how well the V models sounded, my curiosity got the better of me and soon, I ended up drooling all over their stylish products(at least to me!) shown on their homepage, V-Moda.

Oh man, the moment I laid eyes on those Vibe babies(the Bass Freq models looked too ordinary), I knew, I HAD to get them! Plus, I think that the "hyper-dancey" tracks that kept playing and playing at the background of the webpage got to me as well.

Within seconds, I was hopelessly hooked to the earphones, like aunties to fugly LV bags!

Anyway, I digress. I soon made my way to the EPICentre at Wheellock Place upon news of them having stock of my babies. After some tries and testing, I paid for my V-Moda Vibe with an almost-exagerrated smile.

Alas, that crescent only lasted as long as it took me to reach Plaza Singapura, for I soon found out that my babies were born with defects! Argh, the left side was significantly louder than the right!

Before you can blurt "What-The-Melon", I was already back at the EPICentre demanding for an exchange. To my disgust, the skunk manager at the customer service counter tried to persuade me into believing that it is "perfectly normal to have unbalanced audio in earbuds".

Right... I bet it is as normal as seeing inbalanced-shaped boobies on the street.

Big, small.

Huge, puny.

Bouncy, droopy.

Wait, that is just plain freaky...

*cough cough* I digress, again. Luckily though, my extravagant reciept saved my ass. The troll immediately shut his trap upon realising that it costed me $179 for the crappy earphones!

Thus, I was handed a new set of babies! Within the same day too!

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I ended up with a pair of great-sounding, crazily-comfortable flashback chrome V-Moda Vibe(see main picture above).

Until tomorrow, I shall report on my tryst with my newly ordered Ipod Touch mp3 player when she comes.

And on that note, no, I have not succumbed to aesthetics. I merely chosed the Touch over my personal favourite, Creative brand, simply because of the circumstances involved in the purchase.

I am still, and always have been, an audio nutcase.

Which probably is reason enough, for me, to have bought the $179 earphones in order to make up for the poor audio, which is expected for the Touch.

Nani?! Kylie and Jolin?!

When I found out that Kylie and Jolin will be singing a duet together, a question sprang to mind: Jolin is going to sing in english??

Here is an article I found on www.theage.com:

Kylie duets with Taiwanese star

Australian pop diva Kylie Mingoue has recorded a duet with Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai that will appear in the Asian edition of her upcoming album X.

EMI Taiwan announced the collaboration on its official website. Both Minogue and Tsai are EMI artists.

The singers collaborated on In My Arms, the third song on Minogue's new album X, due out November 26.

Tsai said in a statement on the EMI Taiwan website that she considers Minogue a "goddess" and her concert DVDs required viewing.

Tsai and Minogue apparently recorded separately, with Tsai saying in the statement she imagined recording the song next to the Australian star.

The EMI Taiwan statement said Tsai is scheduled to travel to London today to attend the premiere of White Diamond, a documentary about Minogue.

X is the Australian's first studio album in four years.

In June Tsai was named best female singer at Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards, one of the Chinese-language music industry's top honours.

Gosh... It's so funny to see the fans of Kylie reacting to this news. They were like, "Jolin-who?", and "She looks pretty... is this viable though?".

Some fans say it's a smart move on Kylie's part to try to break into the asian industry. Whereas some reacted negatively to the offending news by retorting that Jolin is filled with plastic and she can't sing for sh*t.

Hahha.. this collaboration is a freak of nature. Sure made my day though.

*Rolls on floor laughing*

Question of the night

Should I go for the Creative Zen Mp3player with incredible audio, built-in FM, and great screen clarity?

Or succumb to the impeccable design of the touchscreen, and the "oh-so-famous-for-it's-lifestyle-branding" brand of a sexy IPod Touch?

Choices... Fuck choices!

What could it be??

The time: 3:15AM.

Just five minutes ago, right after I stepped out from the shower, I heard this loud explosion echoing through my neighbourhood.

What could it be??

I Do Not Want To Be A Kenneth No More.

That's right. I'm throwing "Kenneth" out the window, and I'm quite determined to do so as well. It's not amusing to walk into a tide of people and keep turning around whenever exclaims of your name fly all over the area. There are already so many Kenneths on this planet, losing one won't even create a tiny ripple.

And so, I have decided to change my name. The easy part is coming up with this decision; finding the right name, now that just spells T_R_O_U_B_L_E.

Right now, the only one worth mentioning about is:

Ayden

Gosh.. There must be more names out there that I have not seen yet. Gotta keep looking, and looking, and looking...

Guess who else, besides China, has joined in the fray

"ConAgra Recalls Pot Pies
By ANNA JO BRATTON 10.11.07, 9:40 PM ET

OMAHA, Neb. -

ConAgra Foods Inc. recalled all its Banquet pot pies and store brand varieties Thursday after the products were linked to nationwide salmonella outbreak.

The company included beef pot pies in the recall after initially saying only the chicken and turkey pot pies should not be eaten.
"

Some more quotes from the story :

"Salmonella sickens about 40,000 people a year in the U.S. and kills about 600. Most of the deaths are among people with weaker immune systems such as the elderly or very young.

Salmonella poisoning can cause diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain and vomiting. Most cases are caused by undercooked eggs and chicken.
"

Undercooked eggs?? Omg, no breakfast is EVER complete if undercooked eggs are ommitted!

For the complete story, check out today's news at Google News.

When ideas clash.

Ideals. Different people fashion different ideals. Peace and harmony are maintained when like ideas meet. But when opposing ideals clash, havoc ensues.

I just don't understand why some people cannot accept honest opinions about themselves. It's not like I'm holding a knife to your neck and asking you to understand things from my view. I'm just trying to tell you how I feel, and why i'm doing things this way.

Guess some things some people will never get.

Worst still, when clashing ideals are coupled with brash behaviour. Likelihood of a fight are almost 100percent.

Bottomline is, we just don't see eye-to-eye on so many subjects. And that hooligan behaviour isn't doing us any favor.

Maybe it's time to do some soul-searching of my own. Starting with the analysing of the source of my problems : The stubbornly-rooted ideals in my head.

Sometimes I just feel so lost in this abyss that is my life. Not that it matters to you since you obviously don't care, and you never ever listened to anyone except yourself.

"Two Hearts", but where's Kylie? Edited*

Aww... I just finished listening to Kylie's new single, which will be available on the radio anytime soon. And to be frank, I was kind of disappointed with "Two Hearts".

First of all, it didn't sound like Kylie. At all. Zilch. It totally wasn't her style, and I couldn't really tell if she was singing or READING the lyrics...

Secondly, the song is much too short. I had to replay the song more than a few times to totally get the beat.

Thirdly, the chorus sucked. She sounded so husky and unexcited, that I felt very uninspired in the process. She coolly whispers/pants "I'm in love" in the song. Yet it sounded more like a question than a happy confession. "Im in love?" indeed.

Fourthly, the video doesn't scream out to me. Nor does it even tries to. Nothing in the video suggests that money has been invested in the almost 3mins long sequence. But she does look lovely though.

Sigh... So so disappointed. I had this inkling that she was gonna return to her "Fever" roots. Oh well, I will just have to wait and see how the rest of the new album turns out to be, when it is released in November.

Maybe a few more listens will get me hooked?

"Ooooh ooh ooh oooh.... Don't let go."

Edit : Well, I guess I have been a tad too harsh about my comments on "2Hearts". The song grows on you, and it is very unique and different from her previous releases.

I emphasized on "different" because I was expecting something as kitschy as "I believe In You", or as catchy as "Can't get you out of my head".

But, I guess change IS good in order to appeal to a broader audience, rather than just disco-haunting fags...

WOOHOO!

The midnight oil hasn't been burned after all, I feel asleep at 2am... Gosh, so ashamed.

Nonetheless, my project is finally completed! I'm like completely filled with arousal and a sense of accomplishment right now!

Yay, onwards to the next assignment! Puke.

Ah wee!

Finally completed Bioshock just a while ago! The ending was kinda a letdown, and the resolution came and went too quickly. Nonetheless, it was a truly great gaming expereience.

Yay! Whoohoo! Ah crap. My project(due tml) is SUCH a goner.

Gonna burn som midnight-oil tonight, just like always.

New catchy songs that I "can't out of my head".

Yeah, you guessed it right. Its Kylie. Deal with it.

Just for your info, the first song is a rejected song from the new album, while the 2nd song is an unreleased track, so the videos are inaccurate, not to mention weird and so wrong.

Catchy songs though, "In my arms" might turn out to be a new single, so watch out! =)

This last one is a live performance from one of her Showgirl tours. Very, very kitschy. Plus, she looks so... so...Happy.

Bioshock has taken over!! (Pics intensive! Click on them to view larger image.)

Really, I am quite bowled over by this heck-of-a-game. Although the experience isn't as scary as before, the storyline continues to amaze. Plus, the graphics and the design of the city "Rapture" is so astounding that I gladly plowed through all the crazy murderous citizens just to get to the next stage.

Just look at all those intricate details, and that retro design... Marvelous. And those fishies that swim by the ceiling ever so often.

The ladies here are hardcore, they even crawl on the ceiling just to get to you!

Problem during childbirth or bondage gone wrong?

Evil clown with his dick smashed in. Oww...

Greed got to him.

Here's an example of a series of events that happened in game :

I came upon this creepy door, with a equally creepy statue of a woman looking afraid.

Upon entering, there were these weird statues by the corridor "inviting" me in...

Then I saw her, sitting motionless by the corner. And I thought, "Wtf? Thank goodness shes just a mannequin of sorts."

And so I minded my own business, picking up items in that very room, even unlocking a safe in the process.

And guess what? When i turned around, SHE WAS GONE!!

And those statues by the corridor? GONE!!

Then I hear this strange scratching noise coming from above me... And there she was! Cursing, swearing, and searching for me!

Sure enough, she found me, and she pounced!

Sadly for me, I had my trusty Pistol with me and I wasn't afraid to use it.

Die BITCH DIE!!! #$%#$^^&*^*$%$^#%#%$^%&!!!

And that my friends, was just a small scenario in a fantastic world, or game whichever way you see fit, called Bioshock!

Buy it, buy it! I know you want to... =)

Pictures to share!

Gosh, what a warm and humid night... Rain damn it, RAIN!

^Somehow I got lucky and was involved in an interview with Radio DJ Peifen of 9.33FM fame on Thursday. Got to thank Deborah(pictured) from MDIS for that opportunity! Peifen is damn pretty and friendly in person. Gosh...

Phew, I went out with my pals today again. The food at Coffee Club Express was good. But I still miss the baked rice from NYDC though.. Yummy cheesy goodness...

^ Here's Cheng!

^ Here's Rion!

^ And here's a screenshot from Bioshock taken a few stages back. Click on it to view the fugly thing upclose. We will all look like that someday though...

Bought a game called Bioshock today...

And boy, was it creepy or wat! Evil nurses singing in the distance, crazy women singing to themselves, madmen wearing bunny masks screaming in your faces, and little girls jabbing needles into corpses...

I lurve this game. Though sometimes I scream so hard it makes me cry.

Raving mad, stranded by the littoral.

Darius and co were at east coast park for some sweet breeze-loving lately.

Here is the aftermath.
